About Me

April Dixon is an Administrator, Facilitator, and Art Teacher at Shasta Charter Academy, a Personalized Learning free public charter school in Redding, CA. In the Personalized Learning model of education, learners take control of and manage their own learning. At SCA, students' educational needs are met based on connecting his or her interests, life values, learning styles, strengths, and career and educational goals. The key to student learning is the relationship between the student, parents, and facilitator. Together, the learning team decides what learning methods will best meet the student's needs. The greatest benefit of this personalized model is that parents and students are empowered to make educational choices.

April was born and raised in Redding, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from San Diego State University. She returned to Redding where she earned her teaching credentials in English, Art, and Physical Education and Master's Degree in Education from Simpson University. She taught "regular" schools until she found her tribe of like-minded educators at SCA.
